Orthopedics
At the Orthopedic University Hospital, anesthesiologists perform approximately 3500 pain relief procedures per year in four operating rooms. Regional and general anesthesia procedures are performed for orthopedic surgeries, and combination procedures are common.
Main Focus
- Spine surgery including scoliosis surgery
- Endoprosthesis surgery
- Special pediatric orthopedic surgery
- Arthroscopic surgery - a special focus is shoulder surgery
Since proper postoperative analgesia and thus optimal postoperative mobilization of patients is particularly important after all bone and joint surgeries, ultrasound-assisted regional analgesia procedures are used.
Blockages of the Brachial Plexus
- Interscalene blockade, including suprascapular nerve
- Vertical infraclavicular blockade
- Axillary blockade
Central Blockages
- Combined spinal - peridural anesthesia
- Caudal anesthesia for children
Blockages of the Lumbosacral Plexus
- Femoral nerve
- Sciatic nerve (prox. and dist.)
- Obturator nerve
Blockages in the Foot Area
Catheter procedures are used for postoperative pain management.
